Nanofabrication

Nanotextured surfaces are effective substrates for biosensing applications. We used electron beam lithography (EBL) to precisely control the spacing of gold nanodots. These nanodots were then used to characterize a novel etching method for the high throughput fabrication of gold-topped nanomushrooms (i.e. nanoscale pillars with a gold top). Our nanomushroom-covered surfaces were used for improved localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) biosensors.
